Commuter Benefits

What you need to know

Goodwin helps make getting to and from the office convenient, less expensive, and more sustainable with parking and transit benefits.

Parking and Transit Benefits

All U.S. offices can enjoy the convenience of paying for parking and transit costs through payroll deduction. Eligible employees in New York, Philadelphia and Washington can take advantage of the IRS monthly pretax transit benefits. Partners and employees in all other locations may pay transit and parking costs on a post-tax basis.

How It Works

  • Transit Deductions
    • Pretax Commuter Benefit for DC, NY, PA, SF and SV Only. The monthly transit pretax contribution is $340 in 2026. In accordance with local law, employees in these locations may pay for their transit expenses on a pretax basis (up to the applicable legal limit). Any costs above the limit are deducted after-tax.
    • New York and D.C. offices: Payroll deductions are pretax up to the IRS monthly pretax commuter benefits cap for transit ($340 in 2026). Any costs above the limit are deducted after-tax.
    • All other offices: Payroll deductions are made after-tax.
  • Parking Deductions: Payroll deductions are made after-tax for all offices.

Commuter Benefits Administrators

  • For Washington, DC Residents: Beginning January 1, 2026, transit benefits are administered directly through the WMATA SmartBenefits program, allowing for a smoother commuting experience. Parking is administered separately through Inspira.
  • All Other Locations: Inspira is the administrator for both transit and parking benefits, beginning January 1, 2026.
